On October 26, three days before the Stock Market Crash of 1929, the Purdue Boilermakers beat the University of Chicago by a score of 26-0. This college football game was played at Stagg Field in the Windy City. Purdue finished undefeated as College Football Hall of Fame Coach James Phelan's Boilermaker squad went 9-0. Phelan went on to be the Head Coach at the University of Washington and was the NFL's Dallas Texans' Head Coach in 1952. The University of Chicago was coached by legendary coach Amos Alonzo Stagg and the Maroons finished 7-3.
